Twenty years ago I read a book on Square Foot Gardening and desperatly wanted to have one. Well about 3 or so years ago I stumbled upon the updated version and was able to start my own. With only 2- 4' square boxes I got started. This year I am adding 2 more plus some containers and a new 2'x14' long vertical garden on the edge of the bank--pix soon. I hope to have another box just for my herbs very soon. I am behind on the planting due to weather, Charlie's unexpected surgery and cooperation of my boys who help build for me. I love the manageability of this way of gardening and this year have met gal who was just thrilled to know someone who was doing this method. She is starting her own now and I have been assisting via my information. I plan to visit her garden next week and will have some pix to share.
Below is another project I hope to convince Zach to help me build. It is a strawberry pyramid that will hold roughly 45 plants. I currently have 3 plants in a small pot and get about 4 berries every 2 or 3 days off of them-not enough for this strawberry lover! Pix are from another gardner on the SFG website.
